GRAPE VARIETIES

Busuioaca de Bohotin

‹ BACK

Synonyms - Muscat rouge de Frontignan, Muscat fioletovai, Muscat violet cyperus

Originally from Bohotin region, Iasi Co., Busuioaca de Bohotin is a variety similar to Tamaioasa romaneasca. It adapts to the eco-climatic conditions of NE Moldova, the best results yielding on sunny slopes with southern exposure, but also in Dealu Mare vineyard.

The grapes are medium-sized, cylindrical-conical, sometimes winged, though with settlement on cluster bean. The berries are medium-sized, spherical, thin-skinned, and purple coloured. The flesh is juicy, with a distinctive aroma depending on the variety.

The grapes are purple coloured and they ripen at the beginning of October. Grape production obtained from this variety is an average of 6-8 t/ha. At full ripening, the variety accumulates 250-270 g/l sugars.

Acidity is high, 7.2 g/l H2SO4.

The wines are purple coloured, with shades of brick, rose petals flavour, basil, honey, strawberries and wild forest strawberries.
